Sweron presents Punch Out!!, a bespoke shaped ply cut-out canvas handmade and painted by Leo Sweron.
Punch Out!! was created from the 9th painting in the Avatar series, Cotton Candy, and stars a character known as Rocki. Emerging as the first Avatar to gain a torso & hobby, Rocki’s character is a keen boxer and avid socialite.
As with Sweron’s current body of work, each painting reveals a raw canvas beneath the surface, layered with spontaneous, childlike drawings woven through the piece. Miniature motifs and drawings are dotted across the cut-out and textures are left raw to poke through the top layers. Thick beads of paint are used to create a raised effect on the trousers and splatters are seen across the hair. Enjoying the process from the offset is fundamental and each piece seeks to quench that thirst.
